Our characters confront the tenuousness of this Alaskan lifestyle-and they must reconcile with the mental and physical limits they're capable of reaching before they must move back to the comforts of civilization. Curly Leach brings his chainsaw to Jiggy Nichols' home, where a collapsed tree threatens to push Jiggy's livelihood off a cliff. Meanwhile, Sam Carlson and his son Matt take a winter camping trip to a remote clam bed, chasing after a source of protein that the ecosystem has suddenly made scarce. The Porters rush to prepare their farm for baby goats, but in his haste Hans has a shocking accident with his chainsaw. Finally, Amanda Makar puts her livelihood and her friends in harm's way as she attempts to extract the decrepit engines from her houseboat.
