Podivná druhá světová válka I (2)

25.4.2018 od 00:00 do 01:00

On May 10, 1940, German soldiers pulled off one of the most astonishing military operations of World War II. Thanks to the lightning war military strategy, aka blitzkrieg, the Nazis captured Belgium's most gigantic and impregnable fortress, Fort Eben Emael, in less than 15 minutes. Historian Sam Willis and Urban Explorer Robert Joe (RJ) investigate the truth behind the Nazi army's victory. Behind the brilliant military tactics, Sam and RJ discover that a performance-enhancing drug called Pervitin, an earlier version of today's crystal meth, might have been the secret weapon fueling the Wehrmacht in their march over Europe in 1940. They relive the attack of the Belgian fortress through the destruction that is still visible, and look into German's National archive for more clues about Pervitin. When a 93-year-old Nazi veteran confirms their doubts, they start researching the risks and the effects of these energy pills, only to find out that just as they may have propelled the Wehrmacht's triumphs during the first years of war, they could as well have led to Hitler's army's downfall at the end of World War II.
